| It is almost 100 years since Edward Meeks ran away from his home in Northampton with 5 shillings in his pocket, and came to the North West. He found work in a local shoe shop, and in 1905 he opened his first shop in Ashton-under-Lyne. | |
| The shop became a great success, and Edward Meeks himself became a very well respected figure in the community, becoming Lord Mayor, then alderman and finally being granted the freedom of Ashton-under-Lyne. | |

Today the
firm is still trading successfully and is now run by his great grandson
Edward John Meeks and his sister Sally. We now have 3 shops, one in Ashton, Stockport and a new unit in Sale. We specialise in fitted children's shoes and pride ourselves in the care that we take to ensure that every child receives the perfect fit. On the adults side we sell a wide range of shoes, for men and women, by such brands as Clarks, K shoes, Hotter and Ecco to name a few. So for all your family needs a visit to Edward Meeks in Ashton is well worth the time. |
