E W Porter started the business in 1960 and saw the opportunity of moving
to High Street locations in the mid 1980's. The business has 11 sites
in the Greater Manchester area including Ashton-under-Lyne, Arndale Centre
Manchester, Preston, Leigh & Chorley. In 1980 there were over 20,000
recognised butcher shops in England but that is now diminishing to 8,000.
Gabbotts Farm encompasses the traditional butchers shop but with the important
addition of a significant chicken barbecue operation, in which we at Gabbotts
Farm consider us as market leaders. We also specialise in a wide variety
of high quality cooked meats and pies and use only local suppliers for
their fresh meats. We now also make our own high quality delicious sausages.
Staff training is a key factor in any business, but it is critical to
any issue relating to food. All our managers are qualified to at least
the Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate. Ongoing training is as important
and the business has its own in-house facilities and trainer.
With the opening of each shop, approximately 15 new
jobs are created !

Because of Gabbotts Farm's buying power,
real savings are made but these are passed onto the customer with our
own brand of personal service in the most up to date and hygienic shops
in the country. As a result, over 60000 loyal customers each week keep
coming back and our sole aim is to offer the best in service, quality
and product, but still give value for money !
